It all begun reminiscent of a drama on Tuesday 20th August, 2013. ‘The Malawi Obsever squad’ with the pilot of Magede Si Wandale came up with a proposal of finding out who the peoples candidate is.As a preamble,this had to involve a well premeditated data gathering technique skill and a sample which was not prejudiced towards any political party or presidential aspirant as a safeguard to having unfair results.Such being a case, an online survey was preferred as the superlative methodology to be used in a the process.The online survey of such figure is not the first one in Malawi but an accumulation to the previous ones that have so far been conducted by media houses,newspapers and individuals.
Just in case of misapprehension of the results, this online survey is not an element of any political party or grouping rather a stand alone and was done in unbiased manner by having a range of pages and forums which were used as the sample.The results of the survey were based from the voting process which was done by members and followers of several social media groups and pages.
The online survey was conducted in the following social places/sites:
- Malawi Freedom Network(MFN) Forum with over 10.400 group members
- My Malawi,My Views open forum which has over 5000 members
- Kusanthula Zakukhosi Pa Malawi which has over 4.000 members
- Malawi Breaking News and Gossip Page which has over 21.000 followers
- Zikachitika Mumvera Kwa ife Page which has over 23.000 followers
- The Malawi observer blog which has over 15.000 folowers
The voting dispensation took a period of 48 hours with an intention of giving enough time for participants in choosing who they think is the candidate of their choice.The voting process ended around 8pm on 22nd August 2013.To have analytitical and well consolidated as well as accurate outcomes, it has taken almost several days to qualify and quantify the voting process.Take it or leave it but finally I have to make a representation to the findings which are as follows:
