Joyce Banda – A crook and Suspected Culprit to the Government Coffer.

E
xplanation or criticism of stealing shouldn’t depend on which political party or colour  we are in. If the assessment is left to be influenced by political power, this turns out to be a formula for a very reeking, rancid, crooked, and pitiable country. In my estimation, I consider President Joyce Banda’s disinclination to make her assets public, or rather her compliance to sit on the Assets Declaration paper, as another parade of power-bred arrogance and obstinacy that has become the blue print of our sitting Presidents, which is tantamount to thievery of government coffers.

As a reality, a complete dodging by the Attorney General Mr. Antony Kamanga and the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Henry Chimunthu Banda are some how questionable. Having an eagles eye on how these two offices are acting, for sure  a decent cover up of some shady dealings that the current sitting President may be  involved in.At all cost I believe that  the cover up of Joyce Banda  may even be enormous than what Bakili and  Bingu’ alleged weath  pocketing  revelations  shocked us with.

Bearing in mind that we are entittled to access of information, in such a case that the existing information vacuum happens to be suspiciously silent, we all target to fill up the space with our own interpretations. Malawians are always humble people as they will always volunteer to fill the existing information gaps without necessarily worrying much whether the patches will originate from suspicions, imaginations, rumors or any other premise. Sailing through this line of thinking, I am liable to suggest that Malawians will not be wrong to conclude that the reason President Joyce Banda is so bent at veiling how much she is worth is good enough hypothesis and acknowledgment that her ways are not straight, yes! I am suspecting the state president to be acrook and a  culprit to the government coffers.

More to the point, every sober assessment will drive anybody with an analytical view to a conclussion that our current state President has the affinity of telling half-truths or naked lies without blinking. Do I need to provide any examples? Well, remember the South Korea brouhaha that came in commotional as whirl wind only to die silently into the sea of shame. Think of the “Sandlizer “[fertilizer mixed with sand] under the FISP project. For sure, that is a clear indication that our President is someone who is ready to make use of Malawians using corrupt means? This is why I don’t take this President by her word at all.

A multibillion dollar query remains that “What was the main aim and spirit behind the inclusion of the Declaration of Assets law in the constitution?” Subsistent to this question is a platinum cluster of questions, If the law is unvoiced on the announcement perspective as the Attorney General, in his legal flight of the imagination, is purporting it to be, how is it that the country got to know the assessment of the former President’s [the late Bingu] worth to be MK150 million from the declaration that he made in 2004? What kind of “exceptional” privacy is in JB’s wealth that can surpass the law? Did she really declare her assets? If she really did, what was the purpose? Was it meant to beautify the filling cabinet of the Speaker’s office? If the declaration is protected away from public awareness and knowledge-what has it served in the end? Doesn’t she come out worse than Bingu in view of the fact that Malawians knew how much the latter had on ascension to the Presidency while she does not even want people to know how much she has? Honestly speaking, this is raising, in us, what can be termed “first class-Suspicions and fear”.

It is well-known fact and appreciated by all and sundry that every law was put in place with an intention and the one that demands Presidents and other senior public office holders to declare their assets is no exception. In my yet another considered observation, I assume that the Asset Declaration law finds itself in the constitution as a reliable way to enable the public know how much a public officer, in this case the President, is worth when coming into office so that the same public can gauge whether the President has stolen the public money or not at the time they leave office. And guess what-this will inhibit the President and those subjects of this law from illegitimate accumulation of wealth, hence facilitating honesty and common good. The denial to the declaration of assets by the President Joyce Banda in my view, akin to bleach of law and indistinguishable to theft itself. This is why I can securely hold the Attorney General and the Speaker as accomplices in criminal conduct exuded by the state President Dr. Joyce Banda, because the duo are assisting the CEO the denial to announce the declaration through their ‘narrowly assessed’ legal support.

In acknowledgment of the so-called ‘silence’ of the law to this extension [public announcement] by the Speaker, brings in me, an observation that it leaves him [the Speaker]in between two liberty ends thus; to keep mum on the contents of the Declaration Paper, and to make the contents of the allegedly declared assets known to the public. However, the awkward thing is that choosing the initial option, entails betraying the very essence of the introduction of the law, hence raping the constitution. The Speaker assisted by the Attorney General is trying to carefully watch the back of the President by jumping onto the loopholes of the law and capitalize on them, whilst not necessarily realizing that they are leaving their backs unwatched. It seems they are too intoxicated with the orange juice to be sober enough because they have exuded more orange than neutral in their hues. They have tightened the lead on the President’s asset document vault while blowing trumpets on the alleged MK61 billion Bingu’s dubious wealth – a complete Sotto Sopra!!

My fellow youths and citizens, it should remain every body’s responsibility in one way or another to undertake a crash course in demanding, getting, and checking accountability on those who choose to serve in public offices. Given a weak checking force, politicians of all shades and manner, including the Presidents will continue to cheat in the public that they are there for public good while secretly stashing billions of money abroad, as our country continue to sink into oblivion and standards of living nose-dive to pathetic levels.

We are not politicians rather observers .In my opinion I hope and belive that “Joyce Banda is A crook and Suspected Culprit to the Government Coffer.

Hang me!
