OFF SAFEMOTHERHOOD, FUEL AVAILABILITY AND THE DEALTH OF MPHATSO BANDA.

BY: Magede Si Wandale

It’s very ill-fated and agonizing for a mother, relative and husband when the happiness turns into mourning after waiting for 9 cool months expecting a baby to be born only to last part loosing both the mother and the newborn.

There goes a story of Mphatso Banda, a woman from Nkhatabay who has freshly   lost her life and the newborn she was expecting due to lack of fuel at a health facility in Nkhatabay district. This is not only the first occurrence but also an accumulation to a previous interconnected case in just 2 weeks in the same area.

It’s very heartrending that in a country where fuel supply is normalized and projects to ensure the reduction of maternal   fatality through safe motherhood are put in place the lives of expectant woman are still continuing to be at risk because of some economics reforms that are being made by some individuals which are heartless but the facility officials, Ministry of health or government must be responsible for such reckless.

In just two weeks, Nkhatabay alone in the same health facility lives of 2 women have been lost due squat or absolutely no supply of fuel. It has    been recognized that at this facility which used to be allocated 200 litres of fuel for an ambulance per month, the fuel allocation at this facility was reduced to 40 litres which has been a major blow to the facility perpetuating the maternal death in the country when our leaders are busy in podiums assuring us that our country has fuel everywhere and maternal deaths are to be reduced with safe motherhood.

I think it’s high time as Malawians we must stand for ourselves to proclaim the truth and the real situation in our areas rather than being lied to by our leaders in podiums that things are okay in the country when someone, some where is continuing to lose life because of few greedy leaders who want us to believe that things are okay in the country when innocent women like Mphatso Banda continue to die because the hospital they though could give them life runs out of fuel for emergency.

If the hospitals are failing to be allocated with enough fuel for ambulances, so where is the fuel you are boosting about? Where is safe motherhood when expecting women are continuing to die in hospitals because there fuel allocation was revised from 200 to 40 liters a month?

MALAWI ECONOMY HAS NOT RECOVERED.

By: Magede Si Wandale.

Freshly we have heard the Peoples Party zealots and clappers with their pompous loud mouths claiming that Malawi’s economy has recovered owing to the positive reception of Kwacha on the Foreign Market as well as the reduction of the fuel prices on pump. This alone doesn’t warranty a developing country as Malawi that we have recovered from the economic hardship we are going through by stressing on the admiration of Kwacha and the reduction of fuel price single-handedly. Neither the purchase of 50 orange pickups by the well wishers nor the minister’s prados proves it all that we have recovered.

To my perceptive as an observer Magede Si Wandale, economic recovery is not alone tackling or audacity in political rallies across Malawi about the charisma of fuel and Forex but also a period of increasing business activity signaling the end of an economic depression. Much like a downturn, an economic recovery is not always easy to recognize until at least several months after its implementation which has really been the case with Malawi in the accomplishment of the Economic Recovery Plan <ERP>.

As Malawians, there are a number of economic indicators to be well thought-out if our country has recovered economically which includes:
  • High  levels of growth in real Gross Domestic Product
  •  Inflation rate ,
  • Corporate profits
  • Employment
  • High income per capital
  • Stock  market as stocks are priced based on future expectations
  • Regaining of financial markets
  • low  unemployment  level
  • improved living standards among the Majority of the populace
  • improvement in social services and other indicators

These indicators are put in place to analyze the state of the economy and determine whether a recovery is in progress, it’s really very funny for Malawians to be clapping hands that our economy is on track before considering the above mentioned indicators with only the presence of Fuel and Forex.

SIGNS OF NON-ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN MALAWI.
As a matter of fact, when Malawi’s economy will be recovered nobody will articulate to you that we have recovered but the following will prove to every Malawian whether a loyalist to the Peoples party or not, living in the urban or the remotest part of Malawi will tell by the following:

  1. EMPLOYMENT
It is interesting and a mockery to Malawians for the Peoples Party to talk about an economy in recovery when Malawians who lost their jobs are not getting back to the work they lost recently. It’s funny to talk of recovery when “jobless recoveries" has not yet been done. If Malawi’s economy had recovered there would be enough economic activity to get businesses moving again for every Malawian and not the Party bootlickers.

  1. CONSUMER SPENDING
Whether the Peoples Party like it or not but for better or worse, the Malawi’s economy is driven by consumer spending. Consequently, it is so funny and difficult to imagine a recovery in Malawi’s that does not include rebounding consumer spending. A recovering economy will see Many Malawian consumers opening their wallets and paces as a sign of a recovery.

  1. Consumer Sentiment
The Peoples Party recovery of Malawi’s economy is nothing effective without having a baseline survey across Malawi to ask people how they feel about the economy in near-term and their own individual or family prospects not just someone waking up and proclaim that Malawi’s economy has recovered  when Malawians are still impoverishing with poverty. Malawians should have a self-fulfilling prophecy of the economic recovery for themselves at all the levels.

  1. Business Indicators
Malawian consumers should be able to appreciate and feel about the economy is all well and good methodology to preach the message of recovery not when we hear of recovery and in the same place the ESCOM increasing the tariff with 100% , Economic recovery must be  matched by optimism and expansion in the business community.

  1. Bank Lending
While Malawi’ public companies <parastatals>are not entirely dependent upon banks to grow their businesses, most small non-public businesses are. Without banks underwriting new loans, small businesses do not grow, and without that growth it is difficult to see higher employment and a stable recovery. Of what significance does it make to a Malawian Business man who is not able to lend from the bank when yet the message of recovery is all over?

Malawi’s Economic recovery will mean:
·         increasing production,
·          increasing consumption (or savings),
·         Increasing employment, and increasing activity in areas like construction and transportation.

By keeping a careful eye on whether businesses are preparing for growth, whether consumers feel comfortable about spending, and whether money and goods are moving through the economy, Malawians  can get a sense of whether the next recovery is real otherwise we have not recovered.

REFLECTION ON ECONOMIC RECUPERATION ON THE OTHER HAND.

By: Magede Si Wandale.

As the loud noise is continuing to spread all over the nation, with  Orange fanatics and bootlickers going out of control, Mr. Speaker Sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast  I would like to take this moment as a right time to make this auspicious presentation but before I go any further, Mr. Speaker sir ,The WiseOne himself , I recognize the presence of  Honorable Patseni Mauka, Honorable TheChief Mourner, Honorable Mukuzi Wa Duka, Honorable Mike Charles Banda, Honorable Juma Allie Saiti, Honorable Mkokoogona Inkosi Bvumbwe, Excellency Dr Alberto Murrius, Honorable Lyson Sibande, Honorable Greyson Chapita, Honorable Wellington Mangulenje, Honorable Suleman Atupele Chitera, Honorable Joshua Chisa Mbele, Honorable Samuel Malasa Banda, Honorable Davie Namusanya ,Chief Justice Bobby Lee Jones SC retired, Friends of Dr Lazalous Chakwera, the MCP fans, the Agenda for Change  UDF wing, DPP Malawi, Peoples Party fanatics not exclusive of Ackson Kalaile Banda, Thom Paul Duncan Mkolodza, Dawn Gowa Nyasulu and Tao Bin Mohammad Taonga  inclusive the entire cyberspace and Facebook family present ,feel being recognized by Honorable Magede Si Wandale. Mr. Speaker Sir, honorable WiseOne From TheEast, “we have NOW recovered“and I am proceeding as the motion has already been carried.

Mr. Speaker Sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast, I beg to take the floor now. To begin with, there has been a lot of noise on the economic recovery of Malawi from the day our dear president Her Excellency Madam Joyce Banda came into power, lot has been said and I don’t want to repeat but from the look of things I feel that we have not recovered. Mr. Speaker Sir, sorry that I will go against the protocol that “we have recovered “in this honorable chamber and I hope that there will be no objections and injunctions.

“Point of order”, “Point of order”.
I can hear the noise on the background from the Orange camp but am carrying on with my contributions. Mr. Speaker sir, When the ERP was first introduced, we heard that the plan needed so many controversial time frames, economic experts from the capital hill in  Orange attire suggested  5 years, some said it would be in 1 year time  and on the other hand some suggested  18 months and when Honorable JOMA came to head the Ministry of economic Planning and development he told the Nation that we had recovered  and nothing came to the limelight to support his argumentation apart from the buying of the ministerial TX Prado’s  until  some few  weeks  ago of crop yields and  availability of maize on the local market  that resulted in the inflation going down and later  Tobacco sales in progress the  Kwacha started to appreciate  with 1 % until now that we have seen it at 18 % and the exchange rate in the bank is a clear indication  Mr. Speaker Sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast  that we have NOW recovered”.

Mr. Speaker sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast, as we have now recovered, I want to thank our dear Presidents and the Orange brains in the capital hill for working tirelessly hand in hand and for recovering our economy that was tattered and in shambles. It’s a hope of every Malawian now that with a recovered economy the government will consider the following for every Malawian and failure to do so renders our economy unrecovered:
  1. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker Sir, myself and the entire honorable members  present in the chamber ,we are looking forward to have our fuel allowances with arrears paid as now the country has been eased.
  2. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, Iam looking forward to see the prices of goods and services drastically going down.
  3. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, we are expecting to see the pump fuel price to decrease as per the principle of Automatic Fuel Pricing <AFP>
  4. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, Malawians are expecting to have perpetual s supply of drugs in hospitals.
  5. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, we are looking forward to see the civil servants pay hike demand being honored without hustles or games attached.
  6. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, we are hoping that Malawian will be relived from the Bonya and locally available Abwanoni and afford a KG of Beef.
  7. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, I believe that now the government will not proceed to sell our Jet which has currently no bidder.
  8. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, I hope that the government will go ahead to reduce the tuition fee in colleges and never shut down institution of high learning for lacking funds.
  9. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, I hope that now the Malawi University of Science and Technology <MUST> will be opened as the country has some funds to furniture.
  10. With the recovered economy Mr. Speaker sir, I hope that the tax that the MRA was imposing on goods and services will be reduced.

With these few words Mr. Speaker sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast, governments’ failure to put in place these 10 points raised above will render our economy unrecovered but for the time being Mr. Speaker sir, Honorable WiseOne From TheEast, we have NOW recovered.

Thank you.

PEOPLES PARTY EXPOSED

THOROUGHLY ANALYSIS OF PLAN C:

BY: Magede Si Wandale

PREAMBLE:
In the article “Peoples Party in Dilemma as chances to 2014 are getting slim”.The article tackled a series of plans ranging from A to D to be used by the Peoples Party in dealing with their opponents, the plans are all failing and now the centre of attraction is on PLAN C.

The PLAN C stated:
“The Peoples Party had to trap Atupele Muluzi with their ministerial position they had offered him to gain his favor to part with them as a way of beefing up the team to take the government in 2014 but the gods could not smile at them with the loud mouth of Uladi Mussa and Yusuf Matumula who are continuing to go crazy by insulting this young man visionary man who has imposed the big threat already to the Peoples making the propagandist, orange fanatics and the Big mama her self run out of ideas. “

PLAN C CONTINUES-The center of controversy:
“In addition to that the ruling party propagandist was to use the age of Atupele Muluzi as another decampaigning ground but according to the constitution of the republic of Malawi section 81.  Sub-section (5) part  (b)  which states that a  person shall only be qualified for nomination for election as President if he /she has attained the age of thirty-five years from which Atupele Muluzi is to attain that age by 6th August this year <2013> making the peoples party left out with no option but swallow their pride.”

PLAN C CONFIDENTIAL:
With the continued heat amounted to the orange fanaticals by the Man behind the Agenda for Change Anthem”, JB has now run out of ideas with the threat the young man is bringing and instructed orange fanatics in disguise in the ministry of Justice to probe the guy and find out his real genesis, PP confidential will require an original birth certificate copy from the young aspirant but the question remains whether Malawi had a capability of producing birth certificates by such time. A conviction awaits the young man with failure to produce the certificate as a measure to bar him from contesting in 2014.

PEOPLES PARTY VERSUS VOTERS IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.

BY: Magede Si Wandale.

Winning a general election isn’t about ones man show, seldom that easy, barely as simple as taking over the leadership when the incumbent is unable to execute duties or dead as the scenario was in Malawi April 2012.Neither its all about distributing maize, enjoying the state run broadcast airplay, implementing party based developmental projects, gaining the donors confidence, political handouts, attacking critics nor being shielded by being the ruling Party.

Winning an election is like a crucial race, assessment of Peoples Party in the general elections will be determined by their conduct in the 2 years not only stressing the good part of them but also the shortfalls the party has made .Malawians are likely to play against  Peoples Party  in the ballot box with the  following line up:
  • Rotting maize on paper  when the Malawians were dying for it
  • Devaluating the kwacha and the cost of living becoming very high
  • Distributing sand instead of fertilizer for FISP
  • Rampant Corruption of top government officials
  • Awarding of contracts without following procedures
  • Buying ministers cars when the hospitals had no drugs
  • A lot of unnecessary foreign trip when the country run out of money
  • Distribution of  10 kgs of maize  flour when charitable organizations exist in the country
  • Insulting the opposition on podiums at the expense of taxpayers money
  • The presidents intervening with procurement as if there are no IPC within the government system
  • Social insecurity where people have been robbed cut private parts, butchered.
  • Party officials and loyalists vandalizing the opposition flags and property when they enjoy  the incumbency
  • Abusing the state run MBC and degrading of its productions
  • Being the most mobile president in the history  of Malawi within a short period of time gaining her political favor than her countries economical development
  • Termination of contracts with no valid reasons or political affiliation differences wasting more of taxpayers money
  • Over spending with billions of Kwacha and failing to account for a lot of taxpayers money within a year
  • Being the puppet to the west who cannot make her own decision than being remote controlled by the western countries
  • Denying to sign a press freedom declaration
  • Attacking the media for writing or reporting the ills of your government
  • Closure of learning institution due to financial problems.
  • Wasting taxpayers money on the treason case when Malawians lavished with poverty

Surely the  Peoples Party with such a line up, Malawians are likely to boot the ruling Peoples Party out of  power come 2014.

PEOPLES PARTY IN DILEMA AS THE CHANCES FOR 2014 LEADERSHIP CONTINUE TO SLIM

BY: Magede Si Wandale

The chances for the ruling Peoples Party to win the 2014 tripartite elections are continuing to slim with not only the loss of fame to most of Malawians with their poor economic policies they put in place, rampant corruption, social insecurity and poor financial management of government funds but also failure to play their cards well as their plans are continuing to float when the race is becoming more hot and unfavorable for them.

The People Party drawing board with its propagandist, campaign team and the so called advisors hard plans ranging from A to D from which all of them seem to fade leaving them in limbo. The plans were made to directly deal with their opponents or indirectly use other people loyal to the party to deal with their opponents in the same way making their way to 2014 smoother, the plans had ranged as follows:

  1. PLAN A:
The Peoples Party was to handle the DPP torch bearer Professor Arthur Munthalika treason case as the trap to prevent him from contesting the 2014 general elections and not only that but also collaborate with Henry Chimunthu Banda  to contest for  the DPP presidency against Peter Munthalika and in case HCB could win they could either collaborate with him towards the elections to amass a lot of fans and if HCB could deny the move the propagandist  could play him the smart boy by bringing the case of diverting funds meant for building the Speakers house to build his own house in area 10 thereby rendering the DPP with no candidate as APM in their thoughts would be convicted. The party has now been left clueless with the failure of HCB to make it for the DPP presidency leaving the party with no option but to think otherwise on how they will handle APM with his treason case in court as the last option to be done with DPP.

  1. PLAN B:
The Peoples Party thought of using and collaborating with Ababa and his MCP as another winning strategy. The PP drawing board was to do what so ever it could take to help the old man repeal his parties constitution to allow third or open term for MCP presidency as one way of increasing his chances of making it at the MCP convention and with the coming of Dr Lazalous Chakwera and Justice Lovemore Munlo to complete with the old man has imposed a big threat to them not only by making JZU unfavorable by many MCP fans with the big 2 but also making them wonder if they can defeat one of these great men if they are to face each other on the ballot paper giving a lot of pressure and headache to the ruling party.
  1. PLAN C:
The  Peoples Party had to trap Atupele Muluzi with their ministerial position they had offered him to gain his favor  to part with them as a way of beefing up the team to take the government in 2014 but the gods could not smile at them with the loud mouth of Uladi Mussa and Yusuf Matumula who are continuing to go crazy by insulting this young man visionary man who has imposed the big threat already to the Peoples Party from the outlook of PP loyalist such as Rawlings Mpofu who are  going crazy whenever this young man come close to their sight. In addition to that the ruling party propagandist was to use the age of Atupele Muluzi as another decampaigning ground but according to the constitution of the republic of Malawi section 81.  Sub-section (5) part  (b)  which states that a  person shall only be qualified for nomination for election as President if he /she has attained the age of thirty-five years from which Atupele Muluzi is to attain that age by 6th August this year <2013> making the peoples party left out with no option but swallow their pride.

Though now the ruling party has run out of ideas and words with the recent developments that have jeopardized their bid and smoother road towards the 2014 tripartite elections. The ruling party is only left with one option which is to play around with the operations of the electoral body. Neithertheless the chance for the ruling party are going slim each and every day and watch out for more drama as the ruling party awaiting its split with the major heavyweights returning to their previous parties and some of them forming their own political parties.

JB MOMENT
ONE PLAN AT A TIME

THE GOVERNMENT EXCLUSIVE OF EDUCATION.

BY: Magede Si Wandale

When the Peoples Party came into power, it was Joyce Banda restoring   the donor relations  which every Malawian needed and went ahead to set policies and measure to implement  our Economy recovery which were not bad measure for  a leader who cares about her county could go without. One year down the line Madam President has changed the tone and all she sees and dreams about is fuel and Forex when in return she is killing the education standards of her own country.

Stop the preaching of Forex and fuel, it’s not every Malawian that needs fuel and Forex neither the one cow per family initiative and elevation of chiefs can change our lives, the future of Malawi lies in Education sector which you are gradually deserting. Every Malawian is entitled to right to education and it’s the duty of your government to make sure that Malawians deserve the best education .In every Family in Malawi there is a child going to attend school not seeking for fuel and Forex.

The drama is just becoming more exciting with the Peoples party going about preaching the gospel of changing the lives of Malawians with their leadership when they are only busy elevating the chiefs, attacking critics, corrupting and stressing on fuel and Forex as the essentials for Malawi yet   lot of issues are at hand that have been not attended to especially in the academics.

It’s not even logical to boost of donor gaining confidence when the rest of Malawians are striving and lavishing with extreme poverty and denied their right to education stipulated in the constitution of the Republic of Malawi when some egocentric few are messing with the taxpayers money for their political gains. It also becomes fascinating when the peoples Party are proud of the political maize handouts, flour and one cow per family distribution when the academic ground of Malawi is still draining down the line. What will come out of Malawi without a good education background? This in my opinion simply shows the government without education we are likely to glance no wonder our presidents doesn’t read news papers  as information is nothing to do with her government.

Without wasting much of your time lets just have a look at how the Peoples party government is killing the brains of the Nation:

1.       The Peoples party government seems not to be serious with the education of our country Malawi rather beefing up their political capability. With just  a year in government we have seen the fading of the Dreamers dream to turn Malawi into not only the Agricultural but also Scientific developed nation through the Malawi University of Science and Technology which seems to be given no attention in the name of insufficient funds to furnish the premises when the same government could waste billions of our money on the ministers Posh  Tx Prado’s and millions yet to be wasted with the treason cases that has already seen huge amount going down the drain. How many Malawians could benefit from the university at NDATA  if it was  furnished ?In my opinion I hope hundred of Malawians could have benefitted from that money compared to the few 35 ministers who have the opportunity of sending their children to study abroad when the poor Malawians still finds it hard to attain tertiary education?

2.        The one year of the people’s party in government has clearly showed that the leadership at hand is much interested in their political success than the social development of the Malawians. We have seen recently the closure of the campus of heath sciences as the institution was having no money to keep it going when the government is busy partying with the tax payer’s money. What significance it will make for Malawians with 10 students from rich families to go and study in America when the rest of poor Malawian students are lavishing in villages. If you are able  to pump in Millions of kwacha from your pocket  to assist about five hundred needy students what more with the government failing to run the Health institution. How sensible is it to offer Millions of Kwacha to Lilongwe Technical College to help the self claimed needy students with school fees when they were already being paid by the companies they are attached to when another institution in need of money has just been shutdown due to financial problems.

3.       What do you think of the students survival  when the issues of their  allowances for the upkeep in teachers colleges and UNIMA constituency colleges remains unsolved when you go by on daily basis wasting the tax payers money touring the world, elevating the chiefs and  insulting your political rivalries. Are you aware that this outcry is due to the recent high cost of living do to the economic recovery policies that were put in place by your government? You think without good human resource through good teacher’s welfare in good terms we can manage to develop Malawi? How ruthless is your government without paying some of the teachers in the countries who are already living in the poverty line just because of your government failing to meet their demands?

Matters dealing with health, education and well being of Malawians are what you were to put at hand first rather than the concentration on your political bid for your 2014 race with the gospel of fuel, one cow per family, chiefs elevation maize distribution and Forex. We don’t need cows , sending the youth to work in Korea even the handful scholarships to study in  China or America but opening of our own institution in the country where our education needs will be met with good standard.

7 GOOD REASONS FOR THE PEOPLES PARTY TO SAY BYE TO THE GOVERNMENT 2014.

BY: Magede Si Wandale

Though others in their appoint of view feel that being told the truth is attacking them, from my point of view, Iam not here to attack you rather tell you the truth which can even help you to solve some of your mistakes but the fact remains that come 2014 peoples Party is bidding farewell  to the hot seat  for the following reasons:

1.       The people’s party has perpetuated the hardened lifestyle for many rural Malawians and deteriorating of the countries economy by devaluating the kwacha which has resulted in making the lives of many Malawians unbearable as the cushion measures were not set aside to ease the cost of living for many Malawians making live harder for those that earn less than a dollar and doubling the cost of living for the basic needs which hasn’t been adapted by many poor Malawians.

2.       The peoples party has taken the poor living standard as a campaigning tool to coax peoples to go to their political rallies in order to be given a bag of maize or maize flour in turn and walk away without fulfill that which is an insult to that in poverty and in need of food.

3.       The Peoples Party seems not mature enough to be voted into power as they are only busy castigating their opponents instead of addressing the many challenges being faced by the Nation of Malawi that have contributed directly and negatively to the people living standards  in the rural  and urban areas .

4.       The Peoples Party are practicing politics of vengeance that only fuel anger, cause peace instability and hatred among many Malawians such as using the Bingus enquiry as a propaganda tool in turn to get down their opponents in the name of exercising the rule of law and in turn disrespecting the integrity of the late countries fallen leader which we are tired of and cant contribute towards the development of our country Malawi.

5.       The people’s party is just a new name given to the old recycled and greedy egocentric officials who don’t put issues of national interest at hand but their own gains and problems for instance spending money on Ministers Prado’s when the Malawians in hospitals lacked hospitals.

6.       The Peoples Party architecture of politicians Is the same with corrupted mind that has contributed to some of the economic problems Malawi is facing today from the time of UDF, DPP and now with PP who have nothing left in their minds for the development of Malawi rather fulfill their personal needs when the lest of Malawians needs wont be met.

7.       The Parties development projects it has so far launched are directly linked to be benefitted by their followers when most of Malawians will continue to suffer and not be met by such politically motivated developments hence need for a government that will serve all the Malawians equally.
