THE RISE AND FALL OF PEOPLES PARTY IN MALAWI.

By:Magede Si Wandale

“Mphanvu”, “Mphanvu”, in a perfect harmony they spoke and that became the order of the day for Peoples Party with the favorite bootlicker’s slogan “Amai Chiongolero”, trying to make every Malawian believe that the Peoples Party was GOD’s sent  and so angelic to save the Mother Malawi and make it a better place for all.

It all begun with the sudden death of our second Ngwazi late Professor Bingu wa Munthalika <may his soul Rest in Peace>.The fateful death saw the EXIT the DPP and ENETR the PP into the highest office, not only that but also the fastest exodus of members of Parliament from the DPP to the ruling Peoples Party as the tune is always to serve the government of the day by some greedy and egocentric leaders who left their master Bingu even before his burial. The Peoples Party came into the highest office limelight as a surprise and for sure the Party did not even know from where to start from apart from accusing the former regime of Democratic Progress Party for misusing the financial resources of our country and chasing all the potential donors and partners who helped our country in various aspects of life.

With just a year in power now the Peoples Party with “Amai Chiongolero” seems to have lost control and the party vehicle seems to be destined for destruction. The fall of Peoples Party is just around the corner and believe it or not but with Party is failing down like Babylon. How can Peoples Party boost of its popularity when the following remains in our minds:
  1. The dyeing of cows given in the one cow per family which is aimed to target million Families by next years seems to be contributing to the downfall of Peoples Party and making it even more unpopular in the villages and across the country.
  2. The NFRA rotting of over 30,000 metric tones of   maize on paper when the Malawians were dying for it and governments in effort to tell Malawians the truth on the matter remains another factor sinking the party.
  3. The hardened lifestyle by many Malawians with the devaluation of  the kwacha making the cost of living  for a poor rural Malawian becoming very high and unbearable cant be left aside as sinking the PP ship
  4. The failure of the government to implements successfully  the 2012-2013 FISP with incidents of sand  distribution and failure by many Malawians to buy fertilizer  has also resulted in the party downfall
  5. Rampant Corruption of top government officials and up to date the Peoples Party government has done nothing with how its public servants are misusing and abusing our tax money meant for every Malawian.
  6. The selling of the presidential jet with a loss of about 8 million US dollars when our countries economy was on track.
  7. The continued death of maternal mothers in rural areas despite the Peoples Party championing the safe motherhood and due to lack of fuels in heath centers due to under funding when the PP government is busy buying ministers cars.
  8. The South Korea labour exportation deal which seems to be more of a catalogue of wishful thinking than a reality tarnishing the image of our country on the international scene and a blow to the youths of Malawi who sacrifices their everything hoping of having lease of live in South Korea.
  9. The continued Social insecurity where Journalists can be beaten up by Security officers in Public places like the Parliament and other incidents such as the genital mutilation of dead bodies in public hospitals by heath workers. Party officials and loyalists vandalizing the opposition flags and property when they enjoy  the incumbency

Rest we forget come 2014 that ever existed a briefcase Party in the name of Peoples Party, the Fall of Peoples Party will equal to that of great Babylon. EXIT  PP 2014.
