At least 7,000 Malawian Adolescent Girls Aged 9 To 13 To Undergo The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV ) Vaccination like A Measure To Prevent Cervical Cancer.

As cancer still remain a global challenge and a heavy blow to developing nations like Malawi. There is a hope for young Malawian girls to prevent the disease with the introduction of  “Human Papilloma Virus (HPV ) Vaccination” the Observers can confirm.

According to our sources, at least 7,000 adolescent girls aged between 9 and 13 will from Monday 23^rd September 2013 undergo the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination as one way of preventing cervical cancer. As a sample to determine the effectiveness of the vaccine, the project demonstration will be conducted in the districts of Zomba (Urban) and Rumphi.

The “Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine is  to be given in 3 doses in  the months Sept 2013, November 2013 and March 2014, the girls will be injected on their  upper arm. If successful during this pilot phase, The Malawi nation through the Ministry of Health would be able to scale up the vaccine to all districts in 2015, health authorities in the ministry have confirmed.

“According to a statement from the Ministry of Health in Malawi, Cervical cancer is widespread in women accounting for 45% of all cancer cases. Every year, over 2,300 women develops cervical cancer and over 1,600 die from the disease, the statement says.”
