WE DEMAND ACTION AND ANSWERS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUCLIC OF MALAWI DR JOYCE BANDA.

SHE MUST ACT

WE DEMAND ACTION AND ANSWERS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUCLIC OF MALAWI DR JOYCE BANDA.

All concerned Malawians,

I hereby write to appeal to all Malawians as well as requesting your immediate support and action upon reading this epistle. Regarding the situations and prevailing developments in Malawi since she (Joyce Banda) took office. We need the state president her Excellency Madam Joyce Banda to shore up and help us without delay perform and react to several issues that are of national interest. As the citizens and bona fide members of Malawi, we are entitled to hold our leaders accountable to insure good governance and respect of the rule of law.

From this background, in our desperate trying to develop our Nation collectively as Malawians, It has come to my observation and that of other Malawians that there are some crucial issues in which the state president must /had to act upon with her highest truthfulness and good judgment for the sake of the nation development as well as preserving Law, order, peace and stability in the country. Failure to act on these matters will render our state president ineffectual and pose a high risk to Malawians and susceptible to abuse of power, Human rights and public resources.

1. We are asking for the urgent removal /resign of some members of her cabinet:
With powers invested in our President by the Republican constitution, we command the immediate removal of two of her cabinet ministers, one serving as the Minister of transport for being caught up in a syndicate  of voters card business contrary to the laws of Malawi as such powers and responsibility are only given to  the Malawi Electoral Commission hands  and the other person serving as Justice Minister for allegedly being implicated in an attempted assassination to the budget director in the Ministry of Finance. The conducts of these two honorable members are questionable and unacceptable in our country hence we demand the action of the President or voluntary resignation of these cabinet members to pave way for smooth investigations of such incident.

2. We demand to know how the alleged rotten maize was handled:
As a nation, bearing in mind that thousands of metric tones f maize went bad in our silos despite full time staff working in such an area. We recall that tax payer’s money was lost to procure and treat that maize. Not only that but also  the rotting of that maize drained millions of Tax payers money that could carter for buying drugs in our hospitals but also contributing to the  scarcity of maize in the country .As Malawians, we demand a detailed account on how that rotten maize was handled in the following ways:
a)      When was that rotten maize burnt or thrown away?
b)      Where was that maize burnt or thrown away?
c)       Who were the stakeholders involved in the burning or throwing away of that rotten maize?
d)      What evidence is there for the public to prove that the maize indeed had rotten and it was either burnt or thrown away?

3. We demand to know how the transaction of our sold jet went about.
Despite that we made a $ 7,000,000(7 million) loss, at least we need to know how this jet money was transacted and why the president want to use that money for stocking up maize instead of investing it or pumping that money in something long-lasting. However, as Malawians we need to know:
a)      Who bought that Jet?
b)      When was that payment made and through which government account?

4. We need to know what the ACB is doing despite high level or corruption and fraud with this regime.
One of the bottlenecks hindering the development of Malawi has always been corruption and abuse of public resources by ruling Party and civil servants. Since the leadership of Joice Banda came to effect that has also been a trend, there have been high profile cases of corruption, fraud and abuse of public resources  in which the ACB performance has been questionable when indeed a lot of funds and tax payer’s money continue to be plundered. We demand the state president to make the ACB operations effective and probe people involved in these malpractices disregarding their tribe, region of origin, relations, position or political affiliation they fall in as these resources on the waste are meant for poor Malawians who are finding it hard to survive when some officers and cabinet officials are busy stealing from the government coffers.

W e believes that the Office of the state President and Cabinet can be in a good position to help us change this situation or give us the right information. These are very urgent matters that we need to keep an eye on as Malawians for the sake of developing our country.

”Long live genuine democracy”-Respect.
